The line-up for Well Creative has been announced, as it makes its debut this autumn on Saturday 5th October from 10am until 4pm. This brand new festival will animate Wellingborough’s town centre with hilarious street performers, family activities and intriguing artists at venues across the town centre, including the Library, Market Square and Swansgate Centre, bringing local and national artists to Wellingborough who work in music, sculpture, craft, performing arts and more.

Produced by Made With Many and designed by Canvas, Made With Many’s youth forum, to be a fun, free, friendly creative day out for residents and families of Wellingborough, the event has been made possible by funding from Arts Council England, thanks to National Lottery players.
If you happen to be in the Swansgate Shopping Centre on the day, keep your eyes open for a life-size Slinky interacting with shoppers and three Curious Creatures, who dance in a unique roaming street show. Visit the community lounge outside Wilko to make a glowing Magic Nature Wand with artist Lisa Tilley or decorate your own mini wishing well bucket to take home. Head to the shop opposite New Look to play in the multi-sensory music installation Symphony of the Senses, where you can create colour and sounds using your body! Venture outside the centre into Market Street to hear the Boondog Balladeers serenade you with songs of Northamptonshire folklore, histories, mysteries and melodies galore.

Symphony of the Senses
The Market Square will be buzzing with activity with Artizani’s surprising and surreal installation The Bees, with ten hives to explore, guided by ethereal beekeepers. Market Square will also host retro gaming activities such as The Actual Reality Arcade, a life-sized interactive zone of playable classic arcade games, and ARCADE Mini, a joyful interactive performance with short games that people of all ages can get involved in.
Take a walk down Pebble Lane to discover The Evolution of the Globbytrons, an interactive installation inspired by sci-fi and traditional folklore that the Canvas group have created comic book stories for, working alongside artist Emma Denby.
In The Sensory Library you will be able to find a place of rest with artists Gentle Trespass, who will help you listen, touch, explore, watch and engage with stories in Wellingborough Library, as well as creating something to take home.

The Actual Reality Arcade
Quinton Green aka Mr Milisé will be hosting the People’s Stage near Castello Lounge where local people will be showcasing their talent, with acts including The Last Corner Piece band, Velvet Engine, Aaja Nachle Bollywood Dance, singer Lucie Downer and the 11th Bard of Northampton Kezzabelle Ambler. Kezzabelle will also be bringing an opportunity to join in with her wonderful Weaving Words creative writing sessions in intervals throughout the day.
Art On The Street will see local artists Catrina Hill, Deana Winn, Jane Bell, Jean Edwards, Olivia Wilson and Samantha Brockway dotted around, working in a variety of styles and mediums, creating new artworks live on the day inspired by Wellingborough town centre. If you would also like the chance to create your own masterpiece, simply visit the creative table outside Clintons to pick up some art materials to take home, however, please arrive early to avoid disappointment as these are limited.

Made With Many’s Becky Carrier, who co-ordinates of the Canvas youth group commented: “Canvas are really passionate about everyone being able to express themselves creatively so they would love to see loads of people come down on the day to try something new. They’ve put together a programme they hope has something for everyone, where you can not only watch some brilliant acts but also get involved yourself regardless of your level of artistic experience.”
A free programme will be available on the day and all entertainment is free throughout the day, so turn up and get Well Creative!
