Northamptonshire Health Charity has become the latest organisation to join the Chamber hoping to “make new connections and network with local companies and individuals”.

The charity is the registered independent charity supporting Kettering General Hospital (KGH), Northampton General Hospital (NGH) and all the community hospitals and mental health services under the Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation Trust (NHFT).

It is heavily involved in the Wellingborough and East Northamptonshire area. Last year, it was one of the Mayor of Rushden, Cllr Adrian Winkle’s charities and this year it has been chosen by Cllr Valerie Anslow, Mayor of Wellingborough, as her chosen charity.

Nick Hayton, the Corporate and Community Fundraiser based at Kettering General Hospital generates fundraising and donations from local business, community and individuals by holding events, such as a Charity Golf day and Skydiving, or supporting people to arrange their own events to fundraise for the charity.

Nick was previously a Chamber member and found our other members very supportive. He said: “I have enjoyed attending the events put on by the Chamber and meeting a wide range of people from the business community and learning more about the area.

“Joining the chamber will provide us with a wonderful opportunity to make new connections and network with local companies and individuals, helping us to continue raising awareness about the work that we do that ultimately reaches everyone across the county at some point in their lives. With new relationships to nurture we will be able to continue making a big difference to healthcare across our local NHS.”

The organisation helps local NHS teams by funding equipment and projects to enhance patient care and support staff wellbeing above and beyond what the NHS provides. As well as specialist equipment and enhancing the hospital environment, the charity provides those little extras that make people smile and make a difference to people when they are in hospital.

The charity’s fundraising supports facilities specifically in Wellingborough and East Northamptonshire. Nick explained: “This year, one of the projects our Charity Golf Day is helping to raise funds for is the outside garden area at The Squirrels short breaks centre in Rushden. Short breaks are provided by NHFT for disabled children and young people with disabilities who have either a diagnosis of autism, complex health needs and/or complex behaviour.

“Many of the children accessing the home use wheelchairs and need support from their carers in meeting their mobility needs and accessing the garden. The renovation will not only enhance the environment but also make it much more accessible for all.”

Supporters can donate to specific wards and departments, or contribute towards one of the charity’s major fundraising appeals like Twinkling Stars for the new maternity bereavement suite at Kettering General.
