Green initiatives were showcased and ways to reduce carbon emissions discussed at the Wellingborough & East Northants Chamber of Commerce’s Summer Meeting.

Chamber members, business representatives and local stakeholders attended the event, which took place on the morning of Friday, July 15, at Stanwick Lakes, with a focus on the environment.

As well as breakfast and networking opportunities, there were four speakers who gave insightful and at times thought-provoking presentations.

Kate Chadwick, Executive Director at Rockingham Forest Trust, spoke about conservation at Stanwick Lakes, while Councillor Marion Turner-Hawes discussed climate action and creating a community response through Wellingborough Climate Action Project.

Donna French, Centre Manager at Rushden Lakes, revealed that her new recycling initiative introduced in January had so far saved 264 trees. Then Claire Spencer, Head of Entrepreneurship Growth Portfolio at Cranfield University, spoke about the impact of global warming and a scheme where companies could get advice on how reduce their carbon footprint.

This meeting follows the success of the Chamber Spring Meeting – the first in-person event staged by Wellingborough & East Northants Chamber of Commerce for more than two years.
