The Department for International Trade (DIT) is calling on businesses and the public for their opinions before negotiations on a new trade deal with Switzerland begin.

The eight-week consultation allows you to have your say about the current or future trading arrangements with Switzerland.

Following discussions between Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Swiss President Ignazio Cassis, the UK has begun working for a new enhanced trade deal with Switzerland.

The new deal will aim to enhance two-way trade between the UK and Switzerland through the use of various measures, including breaking down barriers and opening access for U.K. firms to the Swiss market.
To have your say, visit the online consultation platform here. The eight-week consultation closes on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at 11:45pm.

The DIT are keen to gather opinions regarding:

  • what you think about their current trading arrangements with Switzerland
  • where they could make changes or improvements
  • where you are facing challenges or constraints when attempting to trade or invest in Switzerland

Responses will be used to help inform their approach for beginning negotiations on a free trade agreement (FTA) with Switzerland in the future.
