Opportunities have arisen for businesses in the north of the county to help support young people with school engagement.

Corby Technical School are looking for support with Mock Interviews as well as Life Skills Projects which has 3 main focusses: study skills, employability skills and negotiation skills. If any businesses would be happy to record a 10-minute video discussing the skills, they use in their job that can be used in these sessions then please feel free to contact Dan Rogers, the Careers Lead at Corby Technical School.

The Ferrers School in Higham Ferrers are also asking for help from local businesses assisting with workshops that students can pick from (they will be either face to face or virtually) so they are looking for businesses to run workshops on a range of topics including aspirational talks about careers within your industry, and how you got to where you are. If you are able to assist, then please contact Yvonne Kenton by Friday 30th April by email.

There are also opportunities to support schools in Northampton with Northampton School for Girls keen to develop links with local employers for year 12 work experience placements for the week. Their students are very aspirational so links with local employers would be much appreciated and this will take place between Monday 5th July to Friday 9th July for the week. NSG are also inviting employers who would be willing to host a short session/talk about their business and/or sector to a small group (15-20) student. They would like to run this as a workshop morning on a carousel and would then like to deliver a marketplace style careers fair, with employers and local providers. If you can assist, please contact Megan Martin for further information.

Finally, Moulton School and Science College are inviting businesses to get involved with their Dragon Den Style activities. They are looking for employers who would be willing to join in with form groups and talk to students about their ideas and reasons and to give feedback. Also, those who are willing to stay for the afternoon session from 2 to 3 pm and to judge the students’ presentations and interested parties should contact Hilary Savage by email.
