Four apps have been launched to help revitalise high streets, drive recovery in light of the coronavirus pandemic and encourage more people to shop local across East Northants.

East Northamptonshire Council (ENC) has worked with the town councils in Rushden, Higham Ferrers, Thrapston and Irthlingborough on four individual apps which provide a central resource for businesses, retailers, local services, charities and community groups to promote and support their town.

Each app is free to download and promotes local independent traders, as well as tourism and the visitor economy, and enables users for find all the local businesses in each town, contact details, offers and promotions, opening times and lots more.

Cllr Steven North, Leader of East Northamptonshire Council, said: “It has been great to work with four of our town councils on this project and use partnership working to further help high streets across the district bounce back from the pandemic.

“Ensuring we support small businesses in East Northants has been a priority for us and the apps will provide an extra, easy marketing tool for business owners to use, as well as everyone who wants to shop local.”

The apps have been funded through East Northamptonshire Council’s Recovery Through Enterprise funding and have been set up by UK Town Apps in conjunction with ENC, Rushden Town Council, Higham Ferrers Town Council, Thrapston Town Council and Irthlingborough Town Council.

Any of the apps can be downloaded via your usual app store.
