A mental health charity will have its logo emblazoned on the shirts of AFC Rushden & Diamonds footballers, following a generous offer from a Northamptonshire sports accessories wholesaler.

Kettering-based Macron Store, scooped the winning (number 13) ticket in the AFC Rushden & Diamonds home kit sponsor 20/21 raffle, however, the firm’s directors selflessly approached the club’s directors asking them to nominate a good cause for the prize to be handed over to.

Rushden Mind was nominated to receive the sponsorship deal.

Speaking to the Northants Telegraph, the charity’s Chief Executive Officer Sherry Adams said: “We are thrilled at the news and would like to thank the club for choosing us as its charity of the year.

“It truly is fantastic news and we look forward to further promoting the charitable work of Mind in the Rushden and East Northamptonshire communities as the shirt sponsor for our local Community Football Club. It is great to be able cement and develop our links in the area.”

A total of 25 entries were received for the raffle from companies, individuals and supporter groups.

AFC Rushden & Diamonds Commercial Director, John Gregory, added: ““A big thank you to the supporters who promoted the raffle and help increase the number of entries.

“I would personally like to thank all the companies, individuals and supporter groups who entered the raffle. In these difficult times we reached our entry target.

“Finally, my thanks to Macron Store Northamptonshire for donating the winner’s prize to such a good cause as Rushden Mind.”
