Grants up to £5000 will be available to small and medium sized businesses as part of the latest package of business support announced today (July 30) by the government.

The package designed to boost the recovery of SMEs will provide grants between £1,000 and £5,000 to help businesses access specialist professional advice such as human resources, accountants, legal, financial, IT and digital support.

The grants do not require any match-funding and can also be used by businesses to purchase minor equipment to adapt or adopt new technology in order to continue to deliver business activity or diversify.

As with the tourism and hospitality sector grants, the South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership (SEMLEP)’s Growth Hub will be responsible for allocating these grants in the SEMLEP area, when they become available. The funding will be allocated to the Growth Hub through the European Regional Development Fund.

Claire Danaher,Growth Hub Marketing Lead, said: “Over the coming days and weeks, we’ll be working with government and colleagues locally to put in place the necessary processes to administer the grant funding and plan a go live date, pending approval.”
