Deep cleaning between customers, anti-bacterial wipes and hand gel are some of the measures put in place by Baldrys taxis, as they look forward to welcoming back customers to their fleet of cars following a turbulent few months.

In February this year I was advised by my GP that Coronavirus was going to be a global pandemic.

I asked her what we could do to protect our staff and Customers. She suggested to me that the cleanliness of our vehicles was key.

One of our main priorities as a company is how clean our vehicles are, so we were already on the right road. We increased our high levels by deep cleaning before and after each customer. We also introduced anti bac’ wipes and hand gels in all cars for drivers and customers to use.

Approximately 65% of our work is from the corporate sector, we could see early on that companies were starting to bring back the UK staff from all around the world.

At this point the holidaymakers were still travelling to sunnier climates. Gradually over the next few weeks the pandemic was taking a strong hold on the UK and the repatriation began, customers were flying into random airports such as Leeds/Bradford and Southend to get home. Wherever possible we were communicating with our customers to reassure them that we would be waiting for them on their arrival in the uk.

On April 1 we furloughed our staff, sorn most of our fleet and locked the vehicles up. This was the first time in 69 years this had happened.  We kept two cars running and Shaun as driver to cover any last minute bookings and also to be available should anything else arise.

Four months on and flights are now allowed to take to the skies, although I believe it won’t be until later this year or into next year until people get the confidence to fly again.

Believe me our staff are all ready to get back to work and the drivers have all promised not to moan about the M25 ever again.

We look forward to welcoming new and old customers as soon as they are ready to travel again.
