Directions, hand sanitiser and a restriction on numbers are some of the measures now in place at Wellingborough’s Swansgate Centre.

On Monday, non-essential retailers in the town centre shopping centre welcomed back shoppers following the Government decision to allow non-essential stores to re-open provided the necessary safety measures were in place.

The centre management team has been working hard to install measures to allow people to shop with confidence.

Lindsay Tickner, centre manager, told the Northants Telegraph: “We would like to thank our staff and retailers who are all working extremely hard in very challenging and unprecedented circumstances.

“In these uncertain times, we welcome you back at your own pace.

“So, when the time is right, we are ready when you are.”

Shoppers are required to use the hand sanitiser units, now in place outside stores, and pay attention to the helpful signage installed across the centre.

A restriction on the number of people allowed in the centre and shops at any one time has also been introduced along with designated areas for queuing.

The management team is asking everyone who visits to follow the Government’s social distancing guidelines as closely as possible at all times.
