With the Election so decisively over, I wish that the UK and EU would now conduct further discussions and negotiations privately, rather than in the headlights of the media.

We don’t need to see the minutiae blow by blow. We need to see some meaningful progress when it is necessary and appropriate, prior to execution.

I realise that the media feels / thinks it has little else to comment on but when negotiating a deal (and we’re now at a point when a deal really can be negotiated) its not helpful or appropriate for all and sundry to be included in the dialogue.

Yes – key stakeholders should be consulted, but this should be addressed in private – not public and with such a definitive election result, neither should it now be a political football.

‘We’ voted to ‘Get Brexit Done’ – the Government has a clear directive – it needs to initiate this by the 31st January 2020 and both it and the EU let us know when they are in a position to clarify and execute the details – not engage in a running commentary through the media.
