Engine manufacturers Mahle Powertain have closed their Wellingorough site with the loss of more than 110 jobs.
The factory located in Booth Drive, Park Farm Industrial Estate closed at the end of April.
Plant manager, Anthony Green, told the Northamptonshire Telegraph: “There is nothing we could have done about it, it’s all through the uncertainty of the diesel engine and automotive market.
“Brexit may have something to do with it too.”
In recent months, the company has suffered the loss of two major contracts, which has ultimately contributed to the closure. Assets will be sold when the site is cleared.
Job workshops have been organised to help those made redundant bring their CVs up to scratch.
Despite the jobs blow, spirits among the workforce remain high.
Mr Green added: ““Skills you can train, but what you can’t train is attitude. Without a shadow of a doubt, the attitude shown by the team here has been exemplary, I wouldn’t have a doubt in recommending any of them.”
