One of Wellingborough’s oldest buildings will re-open as a pub next week.
Rob Hart, president of Wellingborough Chamber of Trade and owner of Hart Family Brewers, who have premises at Nene Court, will add another string to his bow when he becomes landlord of The Old House in Sheep Street.
With the help of his wife Sarah, Mr Hart will offer a selection of his own beers and other guest beers at the Grade II listed building known locally as ‘The Tudor House’ which opens at midday on Friday, November 17th.
The couple’s own gin and single malt will be on sale along with bar snacks from local producers. They are promising a wine list featuring their hand-selected premium wines sold at the brewery.
Downstairs there will a bar area and seating, with further seating upstairs.
Future plans include a courtyard beer garden and regular music nights and a film club.
Originally two houses and part of the Croyland Abbey estate, much of the ground floor is Medieval, and the foundations are thought to date back to AD 948, with later Tudor editions.
