Hart Family Brewers received a glowing report for their ‘super beer’ from one of the UK’s top beer bloggers.

Commenting on the Wellingborough brewery’s Kimber Reserve Abbey Pale, Simon Williams at #CAMRGB said: “Named in honour of the brewer’s grandfather, this is a super beer that has been brewed with a Belgian yeast strain, barrel aged in oak and then blended before being dry hopped with UK grown Cascade hops.

“The aroma is an old oak lined study full of leather bound books and the beer sits a warm amber in my glass.

“Taking a swig you find lots of treacle tart and tamarind, honey biscuits and toasted waffles, along with a pithy dry hit of bitter hedgerow hops.

“Then there’s a little brandy booze in the background that drives the beer forward, adding a chest warming heat and rounding out the finish with plum jam and orange marmalade.
Find some of this while you can, it’s a bit special.”

The team at Hart Family Brewers said: “This beer really stretched our brewing team to the limit.  With 50 per cent aged in French oak barrique, 25 per cent aged in stainless steel and 25 per cent dry-hopped and then carefully blended prior to bottling.  The oak and the genuine Belgian abbey yeast strain give complexity to the richly textured palate. The dry hopping lends a grassy dryness which makes this a refreshing beer for its 8.0% abv.”
