On Friday 26 May, Jobcentre Plus and Rushden Lakes are hosting a Jobs and Skills Fair at the Pemberton Centre, Rushden.

The free service, Recruit Rushden Lakes, will connect a talented local workforce with new jobs in the area.

The free event, taking place between 10:00am and 16:00pm, will bring employers, job-seekers and employment support services together under one roof. Local people are encouraged to come along to register their interest and meet prospective employers in person, as well as access skills workshops or advice sessions hosted by Jobcentre Plus.

To The Crown Estate is funding the launch Recruit Rushden Lakes. A workplace coordinator will be based on site and will support candidates with workshops, training programmes and one-to-one workplace mentoring. The workplace coordinator will also work with employers and agencies to match local jobseekers to vacancies, and deliver skilled, job-ready candidates.

The Crown Estate launched its first recruitment programme in 2009, with Recruit London, to help unemployed Londoners get jobs with employers in the West End. Over the last eight years, Recruit London has helped more than 1,500 people get into work in London.

The programme has since been successfully established in three further locations around the country – Leicester, Worcester and Exeter – and Rushden Lakes launching this spring.
