Wellingborough swimming pool will close for repairs at the beginning of next month.
The pool, at the Waendel Leisure Centre, in Thomas Street, will close on Monday, 5 June for up to three months, in order to carry out vital repair work to loose tiles within the main pool.
All swim only memberships and swimming lesson Direct Debits will be frozen throughout the works and a 30 per cent reduction to the current Direct Debit rate will be applied to all other all-inclusive fitness memberships. All-inclusive annual paying memberships will have the renewal date extended by three months.
Upon the reopening of the site all direct debit rates will revert to the original fee.
An email sent to customers said: “In order to carry out vital repair work to the loose tiles within the main pool, the Borough Council of Wellingborough has engaged specialist contractors to carry out the necessary repair works and provide a permanent resolution to the current tiling issue. The programme to complete this works will run from the 5th June and is expected to take longer than three months.
“During the pool closures, all other leisure centre services will operate as normal.”
The nearest leisure site, also run by Places for People, which can be used during this time for swimming provision is Middleton Pool in Newport Pagnell.
