A free recruitment programme, set up by the owners of the Rushden Lakes leisure complex, has been launched to help the unemployed find work.
Recruit Rushden Lakes has been set up by The Crown Estate to provide unemployed people with details of local job opportunities, which in turn helps the retail and restaurant businesses at the new multi-million pound leisure complex, which is set to open in July.
People will be given the opportunity to find out what it would be like to work at Rushden Lakes at a jobs fair to be held later this Spring.
The recruitment service will include a special workplace coordinator, based at the shopping park who will work with employers and agencies, including Job Centre Plus, to help match local job hunters with vacancies and to provide businesses with skilled, job-ready candidates.
The workplace coordinator will also partner with local businesses, agencies and the local authority to host community jobs fairs and provide training in partnership with local training providers. They support candidates both before and after they have found a job, with workshops and one-to-one coaching, and through mentoring in the workplace.
People are advised to check the Rushden Lakes website regularly for updates and details on the Spring Jobs Fair.
The site will soon feature a general store vacancy page, where people will be able to search for specific in-store vacancies.
The website is expected to go live over the coming months as individual stores start to reveal their staffing requirements.
Recruit Rushden Lakes is about matching businesses with new employees, and giving those employees the best induction into their new workplace.
