Yusen Logistics have signed a pre-let agreement for a 379,000 square feet distribution centre at the Prologis Park Wellingborough West site.
The unit will be the first built on the 110-acre site, which has planning permission to build a total of 2.15 million square feet of industrial buildings next to the town’s Park Farm Industrial Estate.
Kevin Appleton, managing director at Yusen Logistics (UK) Ltd, said: “Yusen has operated from Wellingborough for many years and the town has proved to be an ideal location for our business.
“We are expanding to meet growing customer demand so we are delighted we have secured a new building at Prologis Park Wellingborough West.”
Building work on the Yusen Logistics site will begin in Spring 2017 with completion earmarked for early 2018. Other plots ranging from 80,000 square feet and 700,000 square feet are available.
Andrew Griffiths, managing director of Prologis UK, said: “Yusen Logistics is a long-standing Prologis customer and we are very pleased that we can accommodate the company’s expansion in Wellingborough.
“There is steady demand for new logistics facilities in the East Midlands and we are developing this new Prologis Park so that we can offer our customers the best opportunities in the market.”
Prologis owns and manages about 23 million square feet of logistics and distribution space in the UK.
