Administrators for the Castle Theatre are attempting to sort ticket refunds for customers who had purchased them.

It was announced on Thursday, June 23 that the venue would be closing as a result of losing its contract with the Wellingborough Council.

PBC Business Recovery and Insolvency said the company had been placed into liquidation and all theatrical performances and activities would be cancelled with immediate effect.

Speaking to the Northampton Telegraph, administrator Gary Pettit said: “The key thing we want to do is get the refunds back to people.
“There have been quite a few people coming forward, which I totally understand. We want to get the refunds addressed so that’s what we are looking at in the next couple of days.

The administrator added: “What we have to consider is we should have been looking at Christmas shows and preparing for that two weeks ago.

“There is a lead-up time for these shows and there’s going to be a massive knock-on for confidence in people going to the Wellingborough theatre.”

Although the venue is closed for the foreseeable future, the restaurant next door will remain open.

Wellingborough Council now has possession of the building, and the final stages of the liquidation will go ahead once there is a gap in the court schedule.

Mr Pettit who has seen lots of other companies close down claimed that the Castle was “one of the most complex ones” he had ever handled.

At the moment there are plans for all tickets to futures shows at the Wellingborough castle to be refunded as soon as possible.

The Northamptonshire Telegraph has advised anyone with pre-booked tickets which have not been refunded by July 8 can call the PBC.
