This year’s Wellingborough carnival and live music party saw thousands of people attend.

The annual event kicked off with a parade on Saturday, July 2 which started in Broad Green and travelled across the town to Croyland Park.

The Wellingborough Carnival Association was flooded with entries to the event, which saw community groups, businesses, schools and individuals all participating.

Speaking to the Northamptonshire Telegraph, Barbara Terry, chairman of the Wellingborough Carnival Association, said: “It was a wonderful day, a chance to forget about daily life and just have fun.

“Everyone made such an effort and you couldn’t help but smile as the parade passed through town. We had so many positive comments about how much people enjoyed themselves.”

Glamis Hall, a community centre on Goldsmith Road claimed the first prize for its Under the Sea themed float.

Graham Campbell from Glamis Hall said: “A lot of hard work was put in by everyone in the previous weeks and with Jo, Neil, Cheryl and Tricia staying up until midnight on Friday blowing up all the balloons.

“All the staff and volunteers had a very enjoyable day, really getting into the carnival spirit and dressing up for our theme.”

The event continued once the parade reached Croyland Park, where a large range of activities were laid on for attendees to take part in or watch.

This included a display of martial arts and majorettes, dancing and live music. There were also stalls and a fun fair.
On the Sunday six hours of live music, performed by local bands and tribute acts, were played for revellers at Croyland Park.
