Wellingborough Chamber of Commerce has admitted its concern towards the administration of a local theatre.
Business leaders have pledged to support the future of an “incredible asset” in Wellingborough.
Rob Hart, Chamber President has written a letter to the Borough Council of Wellingborough highlighting its primary concerns over the Castle Theatre’s future.
Mr Hart’s letter read: “Clearly, the business plan of the charity was unsuccessful as was their proposal to the Borough Council of Wellingborough to refinance the venture via an asset transfer.
“It is not our place to comment on the particulars of this proposal and its viability but we do hope that efforts to secure the venue are progressing.
“The Castle Theatre is an incredible asset to the town offering a diverse range of art and community projects as well as a notable employer.
“We would like to be kept abreast of developments and would ask that we are copied in on any consultation documents or announcements as they are forthcoming.
“Obviously, if you would like to discuss any aspects of the administration of future planning we would be happy to make ourselves available.”
The Castle (Wellingborough) Ltd, the charity responsible for running the successful theatre, were placed under administration in April following the loss of it’s contract with the council.
As the council owns the building, administrators have been working hard to secure a future for the theatre.
