Paul GreenMore businesses in Northamptonshire want to remain in the European Union (EU) than leave, according to a poll carried out by a leading county networking group.

A survey carried out by NN coNNect found that 42 per cent of those asked were in favour of staying as a member while 38 per cent would prefer to leave.

The findings, from a survey conducted in April, reflect the national results found by the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC).

Of the 124 participants asked, 17 per cent were undecided on which way they would vote come Thursday, June 23 while two per cent didn’t know and one per cent didn’t care.

Paul Green, group director, said: “The EU Referendum is one of the most important votes of recent times and it’s slowly creeping up on us.

“Unsurprisingly, the votes are fairly close showing that there may not be enough knowledge out there to give people the correct information as to which way they believe they should vote.

“The result is unpredictable because anything could happen, but polls like ours often give an accurate indication.”
