Northamptonshire businesses are expecting to increase their profits, investment and staff levels over the next year, according to a new survey.

Confidence amongst county-based businesses is stronger than ever, a poll undertook by business advisers Grant Thornton revealed.

The Northamptonshire Ltd 2016 study measured the overall health of the county’s economy by providing an analysis of the areas top 100 businesses.

Results of the poll found 57.1% of Northamptonshire businesses expect to increase their profits over the next 12 months, while a further 65.7% anticipate taking on more staff.

Further findings revealed that 60% of those asked are likely or very likely to make significant capital expenditure over the same period.

Mike Hughes, from Grant Thornton, said: “Last year’s Northamptonshire Ltd results showed a strong performance by the county’s largest firms which collectively achieved a higher ate of growth than the UK economy as a whole.

“The findings of our initial confidence poll bode well for the 2016 study results with Northamptonshire firms clearly upbeat about their future prospects as the local economy continues to strengthen.”

This year’s report also included a focus on the county’s fastest growing businesses as well as those likely to make next year’s top 100 list.

The full results of the Northamptonshire Ltd 2016 study will be unveiled at a breakfast briefing on Thursday, May 19 at the Northampton Saints Rugby Club.
