The ‘hottest topic’ in human resources will be discussed at a Northamptonshire conference next month.

All aspects of performance management will be covered at the event organised by the Northamptonshire Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD).

Staff motivation levels, appraisals and how to reward employees will be on the agenda at the conference held at the new facilities at Northampton Saints RFC on Tuesday, February 2.

Paul Beesley, Chair of the Northants CIPD who also runs Northamptonshire-based business training consultancy Beyond Theory, said: “With the possible exception of recruitment, performance management is the key aspect of managing people.

“It’s a real hot topic in HR and the wider business community. That’s why this year’s conference is focusing performance management.

“Our four keynote speakers are not all HR professionals, they come from a range of backgrounds surrounding local business. This is deliberate. Performance management is not an HR issue – it’s a company-wide issue.

“Many businesses are now ditching their annual appraisal process and modernising their approaches to employee feedback and recognition which is why we are hosting this conference.”

The four keynote speakers who will tackle the issues businesses face will be Graham Jackson, Managing Director of A Bell & Co, Chris Bird, Operations Manager at Ricoh UK, Rachael Jessop, Employment Law Specialist at Aston’s Solicitors and Samantha Gee, Reward & Recognition Expert at Verditer Consulting.

The Northamptonshire CIPD are committed to providing opportunities for everyone to develop and progress in their chosen careers. Made up of individuals from all sectors of the HR industry, they regularly produce an exciting programme of events.
