Northamptonshire businesses are being invited to bid for £1m of funding to support ICT infrastructure development in the county.

With a total fund allocation of £1m of European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) available, Northamptonshire business groups are being urged to bid for funds to support local Information and Communications Technology.

The support provided by this European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) Growth Programme ICT funding will help to ensure a modern and thriving ICT infrastructure for Northamptonshire.

The funding will specifically enable Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) to better understand and use ICT for their businesses, access new markets, develop an ICT skills strategy and drive forward business performance.

A workshop for eligible applicants will be held on the morning of Wednesday, December 16 at the Northampton Marriott Hotel to explain the bidding process.

Priority will be given to investments that: Extend broadband deployment and the rollout of high-speed networks and support the adoption of emerging technologies and networks for the digital economy or develop ICT products and services, e-commerce and enhance demand for ICT.

Applications will be expected to demonstrate appropriate scale and impact. Projects should be for a maximum three years in duration, and have a total value of not less than £1million with the provision of at least £500,000 match-funding.
