Around 240 job seekers attended the Real Options for Skills and Employment (ROSE) Careers Fair earlier this month.
The event, which was focused on filling temporary roles for the Christmas period, took place at Villa Road Job Centre on Wednesday, September, 16.
Genteel Associates, Adecco and Face To Face were some of the local companies who attended, along with Royal Mail, John Lewis Distribution and Blue Arrow.
Alison Kelly, from The Mallows Company who coordinated the event, said: “The fair was a real success as there was a real buzz around the room.
“Initially some people who came weren’t necessarily too happy to be there, but once they started to engage, their motivation shot up as they began to see the job centre in a completely new light.”
Following on from the success of the event there are plans to hold another one in February 2016.
