Business representatives have been invited to a briefing about a major new expansion to Wellingborough.
Work has officially started at Stanton Cross, a development near the railway station on the east of the town set to deliver 3,100 homes and 7,500 new jobs within 15 years.
The station will be enhanced and there will also be a country park, schools, a doctor’s surgery and shopping facilities as part of the largest growth the town will see since the 1960s.
The Wellingborough Chamber of Commerce has organised a breakfast meeting for business owners and managers to learn more about Stanton Cross.
It takes place at Weatherbys Limited, Sanders Road, on the outskirts of the town, on May 8 between 8am and 9.30am.
David Cross, chamber president, said: “This is the latest in our series of business briefings on topical issues affecting Wellingborough designed specifically for local businesses.
“We are proud to host Bovis Homes, which has recently launched the Stanton Cross development to create extensive employment areas and deliver significant infrastructure for the town.”
Wellingborough East/Stanton Cross has been in the planning stage for over a decade.
It is now at the point of delivery and Bovis’ Managing Director for the South Midlands Region John Lougher will be speaking about the progress and opportunities that exist within the development and how it will make an impact on Wellingborough as a whole.
John Lougher said: “I am pleased to have been provided this opportunity to speak with local business owners regarding the benefits of Stanton Cross.
“The development has the potential to provide a real boost to the Wellingborough and wider Northamptonshire economy, bringing new jobs, employment space and enhanced infrastructure.”
