Following on from the successful ‘Experience’ projects held in Corby and Kettering over the past 12 months, Tresham College of Further and Higher Education is partnering with Jobcentre Plus Wellingborough and Peter Bone MP to host the final project in Wellingborough. ‘Experience Wellingborough’ aims to increase the employability of young people aged 18-24 in and around the town by helping them secure work placements with business in the town for a minimum of two weeks.
On Friday 26th September employers will be joined by staff from Tresham and Jobcentre Plus to speak to young people aged 18-24 who have been out of employment or training and looking to gain vital work experience to enhance their CV and help raise their self-confidence for their job search. Following an informal chat, work experience placements will be offered from as early as October 2014.
More than 40 employers attended the Wellingborough Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Business Briefing on Tuesday 11th September where Rachel Kay, Deputy Principal and Managing Director at the college launched the project for the town saying: “It is an opportunity for companies to find fantastic candidates for free and helps young people to have something to talk about in interviews. It might be time consuming but you may just find that superstar!”
The ‘matching event’ for Experience Wellingborough is open to anyone aged 18-24 who is out of work and training and will be held on Friday 26th September from 1pm until 3pm at Tresham College of Further and Higher Education’s Church Street, Wellingborough campus.
