Funding will ‘kick start’ growth

The injection of government cash into three major Wellingborough projects will “Kick start growth” and create jobs, a business leader has said.

Northamptonshire was this week awarded £67.3m to invest in infrastructure developments.
Wellingborough will be boosted, with funding going towards building a bridge across the railway line to the new Stanton Cross housing and industrial development as well as the A509 road link. Some of the money will also help to build the new Tresham College campus in Church Street.
James Wilson, president of the Wellingborough Chamber of Commerce, said: “This funding will enable the borough’s urban extensions and economic growth to be kick started.

“This is a massive vote of confidence in the proposals for the town which have been on the verge of delivery since the financial crash in 2008. This infrastructure investment in roads and the redevelopment of the college will bring further jobs and wealth to the borough.”
