Wellingborough Chamber  are supporting the Prospect Park development.  Prospect Park aims to bring new jobs to Wellingborough.

Hampton Brook , a local developer based in Northampton, has launched ambitious plans to bring back high quality jobs to Wellingborough with a new gateway development to the west of Wilby Way. The plans propose a high quality landscaped business campus providing bespoke premises to high profile employers. The proposals aim to create a range of skilled new jobs and training opportunities as well as working with local contractors on the development of the park.

Hampton brook believe that Wellingborough is losing out to its neighbours who are creating new jobs and attracting inward investment whilst figures show that Wellingborough has been experiencing a sustained pattern of job losses. These plans aim to reverse this trend and enable Wellingborough to become a prime location to do business within a quality business park. Prospect Park will focus on attracting high performance technology companies and other growth sectors currently missing in the town.

The proposals would also be able to bring forward much needed infrastructure improvements to the west side of Wellingborough, including the notorious Wilby Way roundabout – which would be redesigned to reduce congestion. An additional roundabout would also be provided at the entrance to Cotswold Drive. Improved bus services for new and existing residents into the town centre would be funded by the development.

Prospect Park would also provide for up to 600 new homes including affordable homes for local needs and associated community facilities, including site for a new primary school, neighbourhood centre and sports and leisure uses in response to the towns needs. These will be provided in a landscaped setting with extensive open space including new parkland linking to the towns green corridors.

Hampton Brook is asking Wellingborough residents and the business community for their views on the scheme. The company has sent out over 700 newsletters to neighbouring residents and has launched a website where those living in Wellingborough can find out more about the opportunities at Prospect Park – www.prospectparkwellingborough.co.uk. Hampton Brook is holding the consultation to really understand what all residents want to see as part of any scheme which comes forward.

Graham Stanton, Managing Director of Hampton Brook –

“For many years now Hampton Brook has been providing top-spec energy efficient and ‘state of the art’ premises around this region with Wellingborough being the ‘odd man out’ – this new type of offer, in a position where company’s would like to be and be seen, is just what Wellingborough needs. Prospect Park is a genuinely exciting prospect for Wellingborough as it presents a deliverable
opportunity for a flagship business park that will create a significant number of new jobs and training initiatives for the town as well as bringing forward much needed infrastructure improvements and community facilities.”

There is a current need for this type of development, as Simon Toseland, Director, Prop Search, Wellingborough states:

“Wellingborough has lost a number of potential new employers over recent years due to a lack of suitable land to meet their needs and this factor is also making it incredibly difficult to respond to and accommodate demand for expansion from existing occupiers based in the Borough. There is a real need for more sites that are suitable to help boost the town’s economy and provide new jobs. The location and proposals for high quality business space at Prospect Park presents a prime opportunity for Wellingborough to cater for it’s growing businesses and attract new employers.”

Wellingborough Chamber has commented:“The Chamber has recently expressed its concerns to the Borough Council and Joint Planning Unit regarding the need for wider opportunities to help Wellingborough keep pace with surrounding towns so that we can compete for scarce investment resources and reverse trends in job losses and out-migration for work. The Chamber supports Prospect Park as a mixed use employment and housing scheme in order to provide a high quality business park which has the ability to attract value added employment for the town. It would also provide a deliverable amount of housing to support the supply of housing land in the short to medium term.” Residents can call the Freephone information line 0800 148 8911 or visit www.prospectparkwellingborough.co.uk for more information.
