The Wellingborough Chamber of Commerce is growing from strength to strength on the back of its proactive Ambassadors Programme which is all about local businesses promoting the place they do business in.
After briefing existing Ambassadors and other business leaders on the implications for growth in Borough over the next 20 years, which is currently being reviewed through the Core Strategy for North Northamptonshire, seven more Ambassadors have signed up to represent Wellingborough.
The new Ambassadors are Tracy Hodgkin Strategic Land Director at Hampton Brook, Greg Hill Managing Director at SRE Technology, David O’Neil Managing Director at Nortoft, Robert White Director at WEEE Environmental, Paul Adams, Marketing Director at the Linden Group, Dick Smart Partner at Quality Solicitors and Julie Thompson HR Manager at Full Support Health Care.
Alan Piggot, Chamber President stated, ‘I’m thrilled that more companies are wanting to get involved and to help promote the Borough. I’ve lived and worked in the area for 30 years and it feels that more than ever businesses want to have a voice and to create a wider network and community. We recently held a business dinner at the Hind Hotel themed on the Olympics and plan to hold a follow up event celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in the Summer. While the social networking events are fun and we also raise some money for charity we want to give business leaders a platform for discussing and promoting issues which are important locally. We have therefore set up some sector groups where Ambassadors and the experts in these fields can promote and inform other on current issues’.
There are now 28 Wellingborough Ambassadors from a wide range of organisations and sectors. The Chamber Executive is looking for more Ambassadors particularly individuals who could represent interests in Manufacturing and Engineering, Human Resources (including employment, education and skills training), Logistics and the Food and Drink sector.
